• Fiji Women’s Rights Movement founding member
• Politician
• Deputy Prime Minister (1999, 2000)
The late Adi Kuini (1949-2004) was a founding member of FWRM. She was a champion of gender equity and racial tolerance, who fought for reform of the chiefly system by insisting on standards of accountability for all chiefs. Adi Kuini had a long career as a political leader, heading two political parties, and was one of the very few women to reach such a senior level of national decision-making. The courage she displayed in fighting for justice in an era of political turmoil, Adi Kuini also brought to her personal battle with cancer.
